I purchased a 98' Savage. Since then I had to change my bowden cable two times, because it has been ripped by the adjusting screw which has a sharp edge. I have to position it exactly in a way it would not do it. Somehow I forgot about it and adjusted it like that it would rip it up again. I rode and peng it was gone SHIT!
Maybe you can use this info.
